What is meant by the job title secretary / assistant (m/f/d)?

The two job titles are generally used interchangeably. This is because there is no official job title and each company describes the position slightly different.
In practice, the job of secretary (m/f/d) has evolved. While the job used to consist purely of post, emails and telephone calls, increasingly demanding tasks are now being added. At the same time, this offers you new opportunities for advancement within the company.

What tasks are part of your job as a secretary / assistant (m/f/d)?

A distinction is made between primarily administrative tasks and tasks with specialist content. Administrative tasks include telephone, mail and email correspondence, administrative processes and data entry as well as appointment management. In some companies, you are also responsible for customer reception and your tasks are similar to those of a receptionist.

  • Secretary / Management Assistant (m/f/d): Reporting to the management, you will take care of their appointments, business correspondence and assist with various business performance tasks.

What qualifications do you need as a secretary / assistant (m/f/d)?

You can qualify for your job as a secretary/assistant (m/f/d) by completing a commercial apprenticeship or a scientific degree . Examples of apprenticeships include office management assistant, retail management assistant, office communication assistant or wholesale and foreign trade management assistant. Training as a paralegal, administrative assistant or assistant for tourism and hotel management are also ideal.
